Work in Surveyor mode using Trainz Railroad Simulator 2004.
As a precondition, depress lake or sea bed using Plateau tool on Topograghy palette. Step 1 Select a dock spline (e.g., Dockwall Timber) on Objects palette and place one side of dock. |

Step 2
Get ground (sea/lake bed) elevation. NOTE: A good differential between dry land and sea/lake bottom for the Dockwall Timber spline is 4. |

Step 3
Set object elevation to value obtained in step 2. |

Step 4
Repeat steps 1-3 for opposite side of dock. Hold down Shift key while placing spline. |

Step 5
Create end section in same fashion as side sections. Hold down Shift key while placing spline. |

Step 6
Join one corner of end section to corresponding corner of one side. Hold down Shift key while placing spline. |

Step 7
Repeat step 6 for other end corner and corresponding side. Hold down Shift key while placing spline. |

Step 8
Using Topography palette and Plateau tool, mate land to top of dock. |

Step 9
Using Paint palette, select colors and paint sea/lake bed. |

Step 10
Continue to paint sea/lake bed. |

Step 11
Using Topography palette, place water. |
